International scientific conference entitled “A Hundred Years of Recordings” organized by the Antonine University in collaboration with AMAR Foundation
The conference was set up with the participation of the Arabic Academy of Music, The University of Arabic Countries, the Paris-Sorbonne IV University, and the Zaki Naseef Music Program -Faculty of Art and Science- The American University of Beirut. A number of researchers collaborated in this conference, notably:
MM Frédéric Billiet (Paris-Sorbonne IV University), Mahmoud Guettat (Superior Institute of Music of Tunis and Arabic Academy of Music), Frédéric Lagrange (Paris-Sorbonne IV University), Jean Lambert (Paris X Nanterre University), Nicolas Meeùs (Paris-Sorbonne IV University), François Picard (Paris-Sorbonne IV University), Ali Jihad Racy (University of California Los Angeles).
The conference lasted two days. The first day, it took place at the Antonine Faculty and the second one at the Foundation for Arabic Music Archiving and Research headquarters. It ended with a concert at the A.U.B. Assembly Hall conducted by Prof. Nida’ Abu Mrad. Following this conference, the Antonine Faculty issued a special number of the “The Revue des Traditions Musicales des Mondes Arabe et Méditerranéen -RTMMAM” which included several studies presented during the conference.
